Give us our Flowers
"Give us our flowers" is a deeply personal exploration celebrating the often-overlooked contributions of Black women within Syracuse. Inspired by the arrival of Abdoulmoumine's mother as a Fullbright Scholar in Syracuse, where her embrace by the community of Syracuse sparked a commitment to service, this body of work delves into the quiet yet profound ways Black women nurture their surroundings.
Through collaborative efforts, I aim to capture their resilience, dedication to service, and their profound impact on those around them. Ultimately, this ongoing series stands as a testament to their unwavering strength and commitment. Beyond celebrating their legacy, my goal is to present a narrative that juxtaposes the perspective of an outsider and the voices of black women in Syracuse and foster deeper recognition of the invaluable contributions Black women make to Syracuse's vibrant fabric.
